lyrics

Epitaph (Paul McMahon)

We pass in silence we fade without trace
Staring oblivion in the face
In lines of darkness and circles of light
No will to win no cause to fight

we paid the piper, called the tune
we climed the mountain much to soon
we live no longer than
a mayfly born in June

He lies in anger he strikes in revenge
Leaving us colder in the end

we believed that we could fly
blaze a trail across the sky
we should have know that we could
never stay so high

but every dog will have his day
every fool will have his say
every trace of us
will soon be washed away

Find you answers believe what you must
All our intentions end in dust

these are the days before the fall
we live in hope or not at all
always reaching out beyond the wall
we walk the darkest road
carved our lives upon the stone
tried so hard to make
the epitaph our own
