Turn Around

Turn Around (P McMahon)
I know I may be wrong
but I don't think that you'll understand
I've been so-lo for so long
this could could so soon get out of hand
turn around, turn around my self control is failing
close your eyes, close your eyes before I fall in
it cannot be, it cannot be my reason decides
let it be, let it be my heart loudly cries
I can't feel the
pain that I should be feeling
the fear that once had me reeling
now I know all I need is to be
here where you are near me
I know this may be wrong
but I can't fight my feelings
it's getting much to strong
but it's oh so easy
turn around, turn around my self control is failing
close your eyes, close your eyes before I fall in
it cannot be, it cannot be my reason decides
let it be, let it be my heart loudly cries
shame that I should be feeling
dies in the hearts revealing
I have no cause to doubt you
I know there's no life without you
you take my hand and lead me through my dark despair
it is done, it shall be done
the road is long and yet I know we shall get there
through the night, through the storm
the vice no longer holds my heart in chains of ice
it is warm, you keep it warm
to be with you to see the trees the rocks the sky
is to live, is to love

Mirage (lyrics P McMahon music C & P McMahon 1979)
All alone beyond the hills
Beneath a cloudless sky
All the things I thought had gone
Are right before my eyes
Sun beats down relentlessly
My eyes are filled with sand
How can this be happening
How can I understand
The nameless evil has been stirred
The mutant march can now be heard
Black the tide advancing on
Death lies in it's wake
Icy whirlpool draws me down
Pray for my soul's sake
My brain is screaming without sound
I feel I'm slowly going down
Beneath dark waters now I drown
I see so clearly now
I am no longer alone
If you could see somehow
If the truth could be known
You will come here someday
But you have nothing to fear
You feel alone but come what may
Those that we love are so near

Over The River

Over The River (P McMahon 2002)
The breath of life laid bare
The faintest flicker burning
Worn beyond repair
By the years of love and learning
Over the river you go before me
Strong in faith spirit clear
Full of purpose free of fear
This I tell you
A life that numbered days
A gift so precious but so fleeting
I never saw your face
A heart too frail to keep on beating
Over the river way beyond me
For all the things you'll never see
All you'll never grow to be
This I tell you
Every day I know you walk beside me
Now and then I hear your voice inside me
I know there will always be a part of you alive in me
And I will keep it there forever
And now it comes to me
As I am growing older
To set my spirit free
Lift this burden from my shoulder
Over the river no returning
For all the things I've left undone
Battles lost and battles won
This I tell you
Every day I will walk beside you
If you need me I'll be there to guide you
I hope there will always be a space inside your heart for me
And I will be with you forever

Another Country (Chris & Paul McMahon)
The red lines hit the headlines the cover is blown
The stranger grace and danger we fear the unknown
Truth and slander propaganda the smoke without flame
Mutation alienation the difference is plain
No no never in a million years
No not in this world
You have a fine way of living
You have a nice way of putting me down
But when it comes to forgiving - you don't
This is another country
This is my home I wouldn't change it
Over the border lies the promised land
Religion television the tools and the trade
Discloses blood and roses the land we have made
Divisions politicians scoring points in the game
Two nations for generations we were never the same
No no never in a million years
No not in this world
'Cos when it comes to forgiving - you don't
This is another country
This is my home I wouldn't change it
Over the border lies the promised land
This is another country
This is my home I wouldn't change it
This is the country that I understand

Autumn

Autumn (lyrics P McMahon music C & P McMahon 1986)
Well I can still remember how it used to be
When you were here with me
And even after all these years I still feel the pain
Cos I know I won't see you again
Most of the time you'll find me here
At my table by the door
I don't know what I come here for
Landlord, Landlord, Landlord fill the flowing bowl
Until it runs over
In these Autumn years why must I be alone
I would never have left you
Just one more question to ask before I break down & cry
Why did you have to die?

For Real (C McMahon)
this is for real this is my truth
you vowed you'd never write love songs
and if we're trapped by stage & song
I never thought I'd lose
My cynics mind as I drive
I'll park up underneath the bridge
walk a mile along the ridge
I'll leave everything in place
of my guitar you'll see no trace
I'll keep my silence to the end
you can say I was a friend
I'll start again somewhere new
where no one knows me or you
don't ever doubt your faith in me
I'll never lose my trust in you
and if they ask you where I've gone
you can say whatever you like
I'll park up underneath the bridge
walk a mile along the ridge
I'll leave everything in place
of my guitar they'll find no trace
I'll hold my silence to the end
tell them I was just a friend
I'll walk out onto the sea
to wash away what's left of me
and then I'll look back home
just one last time and I'll cry
I parked up underneath the bridge
walked a mile along the ridge
I put everything in place
of my guitar I left no trace
I walked in silence to the end
loved you like you were a friend
I'll start up on the isle of green
where no one knows who or what I've been

See Her Face
04:50
|
|||
See Her Face (lyrics P McMahon music P McMahon 1986)
She knows she has the strength of illusion
She will never concede the game
Face to face revealing only what she wants to show
She shines, like the sun on a window pane
She needs no hiding place, see her face
She waits, alone in a web of seclusion
One eye stares at the falling rain
He will come, to burn his wings before the lighted flame
She smiles, cold as frost on the crystal pane
She needs no hiding place, see her face
She moves, he follows as lamb to the slaughter
Dancing only at her command
In the end, his eyes shall see her as she is and then
Her hand cuts the string and the puppet dies

Portrait

Portrait (P McMahon)
with the passing of an age
a swift repainting of the world
now to new gods people pray
new banners are unfurled
to keep the peace with god & man
we have to compromise
between our conscience and our will
self righteousness or lies - surprise
stories change & pictures fade
leaving legends strewn behind
orphaned children of hte past
living thoughts of long dead minds
one day today will be
fading dust upon the shelf
all of us that can survive
is in our lives our loves our selves - not wealth
so what can you be, if not yourself, and you will see
it's not what you have, but what you are, it's clear to me
the substance iwll fade, only emotion will survive
so have faith in life, and you will find the time
it's something in the eyes, that lies deep, behind the smile
that says you could find, the other side, of your life
so don't hide behine, a fading memory of your life
come into the light, and you will find the time
time bestrides the narrow world
like a collosus and we
run about between its legs
to find ourselves unfulfilled graves - not saved

The Edge Of Heaven

|

The Edge Of Heaven (Paul McMahon)
Gently falls the night through my window on the world
Diamonds in velvet skies shine in heaven for you
As you sleep tonight starliht finds you
I don't know where you are but I want to be there
I need to be there
You have been my inspiration
You will be my rainbows end
At the edge of heaven we shall stand
Soft as angels wings deeper than the ocean
Footprints on sacred ground side by side
Side by side
You have been my inspiration
You will be my rainbows end
At the edge of heaven we shall stand
Lead me by silent waters stay by my side
I can't deny this feeling it will never die
This will never die
You have been my inspiration
You will be my rainbows end
At the edge of heaven we shall stand

Let Go
06:14
|
|||
Let Go (C & P McMahon 1996)
There ain't nothing you can do or say about it
Can't fix it overnight
This whole world's too big to carry on your shoulder
Put it down a little while
Life isn't always in danger
Don't crucify yourself
Life isn't all about changes
Have mercy on yourself
You've got to let go
And no matter how you try to climb the mountain
You keep slipping down the slope
When you're clinging by your fingernails to nothing
You know you haven't got a hope
Life isn't always in danger
Don't crucify yourself
Life isn't all about changes
Have mercy on yourself
You've got to let go
It's time to close your eyes and dream
Disconnect and go downstream
You did all you could you know you're only flesh and blood
It's time to leave the fight and let the dragon sleep tonight
Time to let go

The Vice
07:30
|
|||
The Vice (lyrics P McMahon music C & P McMahon 1981)
When the vice of sleep lies broken
And the curtains of night hang torn
Unbidden thoughts are awoken
In the uncertain light of dawn you think you see
Well it can give you the strangest feeling
So gently it slips away
And the friends that you once thought so near
Seem to fade in the light of day
Well it's always been that way
And I think it's too late now
It may be too late
So much time has passed since then
I am no longer sure just how I feel
I don't know why they call time a healer
When it tears your flesh apart
Wipes out all your feelings
Squeezes tears of blood from your heart
Yes it's always been that way
And I think it's too late now
Yes I'm quite sure it's too late
Why does time take all our lives
And rip up apart it tears us apart
Hardens hearts & closes minds
As fetid hands choke life from life to dust
I was there even in your darkest hour
Fight despair only fear & hate devour
I was there even in your darkest hour
Fight despair only fear & hate devour

Ophelia
07:19
|
|||
Ophelia (lyrics P Chisnell music P Chisnell, C & P McMahon 1985)
At the waters edge I stand
A figure in blue etched in the sand
I look for your face
To subdue my craving mind
All I see is myself
My feelings for you you never knew
Try as I might I was bound to lose
I need you touch to satisfy the ache inside
All I feel is your loss
Oh Ophelia were you brave
Or did your love denied
Become more than life itself
Time & tide rise over my head
My silent searching now at an end
I see your face
Death worth the dying
You are forever mine

In The End (lyrics P McMahon music P McMahon 1986)
Warm glow, creeping through my window, dancing in the air
Your smile, shining in my minds eye, wishing you were here
Where we come from is where we'll go to
Where we come from they'll never know how far from home they are
All we have seen will fade, into the dark
Leaving only ourselves hand in hand
In the end
Twilight, hanging on the edge of night, burning like a flame
Your eyes, flicker in the firelight, whispering my name
We are walking into the darkness
Holding high the undying spark we'll never be alone
All we have seen will fade, into the dark
Leaving only ourselves hand in hand
In the end
Alone we are ended, our souls undefended
we cling to each other for our lives
Fro now we can see, what we are is all be need
And our hears beat together for our lives
Holding the torch high we live though the flame dies
And these are the best days of our lives
In love undefeated our hopes undepleted
now these are the last days of our lives

Dragon Fly

Dragonfly (P McMahon)
We will dance across the fields the reaper and the grinding wheel
The blood that falls onto the fields will bind us
As water falls onto the seed across the silent soil we bleed
We will be together when they find us
We will dance across the sea let the breakers set us free
The power of the untamed sea will grind us
You can be the air I crave I will be your tidal wave
We will be together when they find us
We will dance across the sand the prophet and the burning man
The light reflecting from the sand will blind us
The blazing sun will burn our skin and bring to life the flame within
We will be together when they find us
We will dance across the sky the eagle and the dragon fly
blaze a trail across the sky behind us
You will be my healing flame I will be your final frame
We will be together when they find us
We dance across the universe a silent scream an ageless curse
we will leave this barren earth behind us
The poetry and timeless grace the beauty of your bloodless face
We will be together when they find us

Train

Train (Chris McMahon)
I woke up early with the sun in my eyes and the dream still clear in my mind
I walked out of my life and out of town, with my bags just as it started to rain
I sat right down by the railroad track just like it had been in the dream
I laid down my load, with nothing to lose and waited for the train
Now after a while my friend came by just to see what I was goin through
And we talked about the way everybody seemed to be waiting for something new
to come along and change the way we are & what we’re gonna do
and after a while she sat right down there and started waiting too
A few days later folk were stopping by and some of them would stay
we had tents & fires & music & stuff the biggest party that you ever saw
soon we were getting organized building homes & growing our food
& I got so busy that I almost forgot just what I was waiting for
A year has come & gone and you wouldn't believe just how things have changed
everyday there’s more people here I never knew so many felt the same
But still sometimes I think about the dream & how my life would have been
on a rainy day in summertime waiting for the train
Now our kids have grown old and I’m getting tired as I look back on what we've done
we’ve schools & shops & doctors & things and a sense of who we are for sure
But there’s still no sign of change in the world or the things that we’re hoping’ll come
And sometimes I think maybe it’s all inside what we‘re waiting for
In the dead of night I sat by the track all alone as the stars unfurled
I felt younger as the world grew old and I don’t think I’ll be coming back
put my ear to the ground and I heard a rumbling sound like thunder from another world
then a blinding light and a screaming steam and the last thing I saw was the train
coming down the track

The Hum

The Hum (lyrics P Chisnell, music P Chisnell, C & P McMahon 1983)
Up and down the street the lights go on
says Ethel to Joe "can you hear the hum"
"oh go to sleep"
"oh go to sleep"
But the hum got worse & sleep got less
Soon poor old Joe couldn't dream of Tess
Trouble was near
Trouble was near
The cause they found was underground
Ethel dashed indoors to phone the town
"moles are at war"
"moles are at war"
In recessed dim blind panic reigned
As moles brown and black fought a battle of hue
How do they know who is who?
How do they know who is who?
Now all their troubles are soon to pass
As the man from the town brought out his gas
Now we can all get some sleep
Now we can all get some sleep

The Barrister And The Bargast (P McMahon) 2006
Across Paradise Square in his suit & bow tie
The Barrister strode with a gleam in his eye
His morals were low, but his fees were sky high
For he knew how to cheat & he knew how to lie
He worked late in the evening so he could charge more
For his time and his knowledge of old English law
The shadows lay deep as he walked from his door
Through the old cobbled square from a time long before
The Bargast awoke in the depths of his lair
Hidden from mortal eyes under the square
A huge ghostly dog with red eyes and black hair
He lifted his nose and he scented the air
What manner of man can give off such a smell?
The stench of corruption and Old Spice as well
It was worse than the stench in the bowels of Hell
A smell which the Bargast knew only too well
The Bargast came forth and the man stopped dead
He looked as the size of the beast and he said
"You better be licensed or woe betide you,
I'll have you put down and your master I'll sue"
The Bargast looked back with his red eyes aglow
He said "My master is no one you'd know,
I round up the guilty and I take them below,
Now it's your turn to feel my teeth in your soul"
The Barrister turned and he fled with some vigour
But expense account luncheons had fattened his figure
So the Bargast soon had the man pinned to the deck
And he opened his jaws to rip out his neck
The Barrister pleased and begged for his life
He spoke of his children and his greaving wife
The Bargast just stared the man deep in the eyes
And said "This World has heard enough of your lies"
"your children despise you they'll be glad when you go,
Your wife left you three and a half years ago,
You have all the appeal of a three week dead Cod,
And you mistress loves only the size of your wad.
"There's none that will mourn you I bid you farewell
You soul is now forfeit, your place is in Hell,
For justice and mercy you care not one Groat"
And the noble beast ripped out the Barrister's throat
So hear me you Lawyers and learn from my tale
With your nose in the swill and your thumb on the scales
Beware of the Bargast and his sniffling snout
Or be sure that you sins will rip your throat out!

Unto The Dawn

Unto The Dawn
peace is written in the sand
until the waves wash it away
as they flow raindrops begin to fall
and the sun will greet another day
while the clouds turn & say goodbye
the earth awakes in heed to sunlight's call
the golden dome of light will rise
up through the sky
so always hold your head up high
before you miss and sleep
now the night is falling
as flowers bow their heads and fade
the blossom dies the petals softly fall
now peace is written in our hearts
waves no longer wash the shore
here we wait until the cold grey dawn

In The Light (Paul McMahon)
You rise to greet the day
With the night far behind
In some mysterious way
You're not all alone
Trapped behind these walls
But inside you're free
To wander ancient halls
Forever turning keys
You spoke of your dreams once
But so long ago
Is it too late now
Will they never grow
How long have you been here
Shut away from light
When will it be clear
That your way is right
You spoke of your dreams once
Your dreams were so old
But now in the light of this new day
The blade is so cold

The Night (P McMahon 1979)
Well there was never a moment when I believed that I was alone
Though I never knew I could be so sure
That when my mind was troubled I could call on you
Never doubting you would help me
How could I be so wrong? Why did I trust you?
I placed all my hopes on you to be let down again
But now now I see you were never there at all
You see that I I could never doubt you
But I can live without you I'm sure I can
You see that I never needed you that was just a phase I was going through believe me
All this time and nothing left to show
But self deluding dreams than never grow
Acid thoughts bite deep into my pain
Ice cold fear drives bitterness insane
I see now what I must do I guess I always knew
And now now that all is said and done I never really cared
You see that I I knew it all along
But I took that pain and I was strong but not enough
I can face the night but when that darkness leaves
I just can't bear to face the dawn alone not alone

Seven Stones (Chris & Paul McMahon)
Day breaks light into a dark world
Stars fade I see where I am
Blue skies turn to grey inside me
Flying high and into the rising sun
Don't wait for me any longer
By tomorrow things could have changes
It couldn't be the same
Seven stones seven stars above you
Dying in the courtyard there's one white tree
Memories fading from the old world
Living in a dream that's dead and gone
Don't wait for me any longer
I think already it's too late
It couldn't be the same
I'm not waiting any longer
By tomorrow things could have changed
It couldn't be the same
